RED CROSS WORK AIR RAID PRECAUTION The committee of the Morrinsville branch of the Red Cross Society met on Tuesday nUjht. Those present •were Mr \V. Reason (chairman), Mesdames M. J. Davies, L. E. Pole, Misses D. Reason (secretary), M. Ferguson, S. Jones and Mr C. A. Ferguson. Reports showed that three members of the branch attended lectures in Hamilton on air raid precautions, and had sat for air examinations, the results of which were not yet announced. Members of the branch had been attending lectures in conjunction with the Morrinsville St. John Ambulance Association. Arrangements for classes in home nursing were discussed. Several donations and subscriptions had been re-

ceived since the branch was formed and there was now £9 in hand, although no canvass for members had been made. VETERINARIAN AT WORK Mr A. A. Blakely, the veterinarian appointed by the Morrinsville Veterinary Association commenced his duties on Thursday. For the past year Mr Blakeiy has been assistant veterinarian to the Taranaki 'Federated Dairy Companies. PHYSICAL CULTURE CLUB 'Good process Is being made in the erection of the Physical Culture Hall. The voluntary labour organised by Mr Phillpot is doing splendid work not °nly in expediting the-erection of the building but also in keeping down the cost. On Saturday a working bee counting of Messrs M. C.. Phillpot, A. L. Nicholson. S. E. Bloomfield and It. H. Wedde was hard at work but there are still vacancies for further volunteers. The need for the hall is apparent when a handy numerous inquiries are made for hiring. BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY To further the interest in the int< es in the Beautifying Society, Dr. C. 11. Kin- lias taken and enlarged two very line. photographs, one of the. waterfall and one of the Centennial river waik. These photographs are on view in the Borough Council Chambers.
