They were yarning about tobacco in ! the smoke-room of an Auckland Club the other night. A well-known doctor i startled everybody by declaring that I some brands were about as dangerous j as dynamite, and mentioned the case ; of a man who had consulted him some I time before for had throat trouble. “I j asked him.” said the doctor, “whit j brand of tobacco he used, lie told me, j adding that he'd smoked it for months, j “Knock it off,” 1 warned him, **l know j that brand.” “What brand would you | recommend, doctor?” he asked. "Why i the genuine ‘toasted’,” i said, "IPs not ! only the finest tobacco I know of, but j the purest.” He’s all right again now ! —and swears by ‘toasted’. There's I nothing like it.” There isn’t. But | there are only five brands of the real j thing, remember—Cavendish, Navy cut j No. 3 (Bulldog . Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshcad'. Riverhead Gold and Desert Gold. The two last are tin* cigarette tobaccos so popular with the roll-your-own brigade. Rut don't get "stung" when you buy ! Imitations are. no good.
