CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING

HAMILTON COMPETITION EXCELLENT CONDITIONS PREVAIL Excellent shooting conditions and a large attendance marked the competition organised by the Hamilton Acclimatisation Club and held on the Hamilton Gun Club's grounds at Melville on Saturday. In the eye-opener match, the whole of the 18 competitors shot the possible and divided the stake. The second event was for a stake, a double-barrelled hammerless -run. and a barometer presented by t|,,' Hamilton Gun Club. There were 1r» birds, and the competitors shot from handicap marks. C. Benton i7ytl> M. Otway 12yds and J. Dobson (14yds; shot Ihe possible and divided the stake, in the slioot-off for tli prizes, Otway missed his fourth bird. Dobson ami Benton went on to ll ie 18th. Benton missed the 19th. leaving Dobson the winner of the first prize and Benton the winner of the second.
