SPANISH PRISONS CROWDED MACHINE-GUNNED IN DITCHES United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright; (Received Aug. 19, 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 18 The llendaye correspondent of the Madrid and Bilbao report crowded prisons and many executions. Special courts try prisoners in batches, and when convicted they are machine-gunned in ditches at Montjuich. a suburb of Barcelona, also the artillerv range at Retamarcs. Informers are active against Spaniards and foreigners, including those who lived in Republican Spain during the war. The Government has informed France and the United states that prisI oners of these nationalities would suon ' be released.
