SUCCESSFUL BALL

PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION VERY COLOURFUL DECORATIONS Organised by the executive of the Waikato section of the New Zealand Public Service Association, a very successful and enjoyable ball was held in the Franlcton Town Hall last night. An event eagerly anticipated bv the dancing community, this Him - 1i..,, has become very popular, mainly by reason of its two chief attributes, brightness and excellent organisation. The hall, which was thronged with dancers, lias seldom been more effectively decorated, and reflected much credit on those responsible for the colourful effect. Suspended from a circle, in the centre of which hung an enormous bunch of variegated balloons. myriads of streamers in four harmonising shades of pink and the dance floor, through which a soft glow filtered from the petunia-shaded lights. The front of the gallery w.m draped in petunia while punga fronds and black and silver emblems decorated the walls. A feature of the decorations was the clever pink paper lattice work on a background of petunia and the draping in pink and petunia surrounding the stage, in front of which were placed artistic baskets of large violet and pink cellophane flowers. •Similar decorations were effected in the supper room, where the tables were gay with spring flowers and streamers. 'Claret cup was served in a marquee, around which punga fronds had been arranged. Bright music was supplied by George Brown and his Regent Dance Band. Mrs E. K. Fox, who was wearing a charming gown of black taffeta, acted as hostess, in the unavoidable absence of Mrs C. J. Parsons.
