OBITUARY

MR J. P. JENSEN (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday The death lias occurred at Morriusville of Mr Jens Peter Jensen, aged 73 years. The late Mr Jensen was a member of the Thames Valley Drainage Board from its inception seven years ago until ill-health this year made it necessary for him to resign. Mr Jensen had been farming at Tahuna. on the Piako River, near Morrinsville, for the past 20 years, and was an authority on drainage matters of the Thames Valley. Before coming to Morrinsville he had been farming at Halcombe, Kiifibolton and Inglewood. A staunch member of the Methodist Church, Mr Jensen had been a local preacher for many years, lie was also a member of the Morrinsville Jersey Cattle Club. Mr Jensen leaves a family of Jive sons and three daughters.

MR J. T. DIXON

(Special to Times) ROTORUA, Monday The death has occurred of Mr Joseph Topliss Dixon, aged 64. A native of Lincolnshire, Mr Dixon came to New Zealand with his parents at a very early age. Mr Dixon joined the Devonport Naval Band at the age of nine, later playing in the Garrison Band, the Pukekohe Band and the Papakura Band. Arriving at Rotorua 30 years ago, Mr Dixon formed and conducted the Hineinoa Band, which later amalgamated with the Rotorua Municipal Band, of which lie was a member until his death. He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.

PIONEER DIES AT 99

(By Telegraph.—Press Association) ASHBURTON, Monday The death has occurred of Mr John Hickey, of Hinds, aged 99. He was born in Ireland, and came to New Zealand as a young man. being one of the first residents of the Hinds d strict. Mrs Hickey died last September, aged 88.
