NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS ANNOUNCED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WHANGAREI, Monday The national bacon pig championship in connection with the Whangarei Winter Exhibition resulted: W. H. Bunning Taranaki, 1, A. T. Rogers (Ngaruawahia; 2, P. and S. Ross (Te Puke} 3. The national bacon pig championship this year was on a Dominion-wide basis, having been arranged in eight provincial sections. Hoof judging was conducted at eight leading stock shows throughout New Zealand and the pigs were then cured at Auckland and assembled at the show for final judging as bacon. All told, 328 sides of bacon were adjudicated upon by Dr. (J. P. McMeekan, Mr li. Kneebone and Mr F. Merritt, the display occupying twice the space of previous years. Eight provincial championships were allotted, while a provincial cup was also awarded for the section in which the pigs scored the highest average points. This was won by South Auckland. The average points gained in the championship this year over all entries was 77 per cent, as against 70.99 per cent last year.
