In this tiny 4-cylinder plane, Mr Tom Smith, 26-year-old Californian test pilot, took off from Old Orchard Beach, Maine U.S.A., at dawn on May 28, to cross the Atlantic. He had no flight license, and his plane was loaded beyond air-worthiness. He was not seen again.
