MEN DISMISSED
NGAHERE GOLD DREDGING GREY’M'OUTH, Monday A number of disputes wftich have taken place during recent weeks and wtiich came to a head during the week-end have resulted in the dismissal of 11 of the 76 men employed in the building of a dredge al Xgahere for the Xgahere Gold Dredging Company, Limited. No statement was obtainable tonight from officials of the company, but, it is understood that the dismissals have to do with the resentment felt by some of the men about their working conditions. The dismissed men are members of either the Dredge Workers’ Union or the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, hut their attempts to get into touch with the secretaries of these unions at Greymouth up to a late hour tonight had failed.
