PLANS FOR CRUISE

LEANDER AND ACHILLES LORD GALWAY TO TRAVEL (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday Detailed programmes for the winter cruises to the South Pacific of H.M.S. Leander, flagship of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, and H.M.S. Achilles were announced yesterday by the Minister of Defence, the lion. F. Jones. The Leander, under Commodore J. W. Rivett-*Carnac, commanding the New Zealand Squadron, will be absent from Auckland from June 27 to August 11, and the Achilles, commanded by captain W. E. Parry, will be on her cruise from July 6 to August 18. The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, will visit the Islands as a passenger on the Achilles. The Imperial Escort vessel Leith, which is now visiting the Islands, will return to Auckland oil July 7 and the escort vessel Wellington, which left Auckland on May 16, on a cruise to the Fiji Group, the New Hebrides, the British Solomon Islands Protectorate, and the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony, is not expected to return to the base before October 7.
