: UNION’S ANNUAL MEETING MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MR BELCHER NEW CHAIRMAN A member of the council of the . New Zealand Rugby Union and a [ prominent personality in football i activities in this district, Mr A. st. C. belcher, of Hamilton, was elected chairman of the management committee of the Waikato Rugby Union when the new committee met following: the annual meeting of the union last evening. Mr D. R. F; Campbell, of Morrinsville, was re-elected president of the union, the election being a deviation from the precedent of electing a new president each year. Several delegates spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Campbell's services to Rugby in the Waikato. New Officers The officers elected at the annual meeting were:—President, Mr I). Speight were elected as an emergency sub-committee of the management committee. Messrs B. S. Marshall and Belcher were appointed representatives of the union on the Waikato Referees Appointment Board. The union decided to nominate Mr T. Craig, of King Country, as one of the North Island selectors to he chosen by .the New Zealand Union. An application will be made for the Waikato-Auekland match at Hamilton on June 9. Sound Finances The balance-sheet revealed that the funds were sound, a profit of £lOl 19s being recorded. Receipts from representative matches last season totalled £Bl9 17s. Special dispensation to the Raglan club to compete in the Hamilton senior F> competition was renewed. In view of the disbanding of the Kawhia Rugby sub-union this season, the Waipa sub-union was granted dispensation to engage several players from Kawhia in the Waipa territory this season. The union decided to notify the King Country Union, which 1 has special dispensation to play footballers from Kawhia, that certain of the Kawhia players would play in the Waipa sub-union this season. Harlequin Clu-b The Harlequin Football Club (N.Z.) j was granted honorary affiliation with the Waikato Rugby Union. The club will not be given representation on the management committee. Mr < Belcher, president of the club, sjyd ; the Harlequins would not make frx- . tures which would clash with the ] Waikato l'nion or sub-unions.
