RAPID DEMOLITION MAKING WAY FOR ROAD A blacksmith’s shop, then a motor painter's establishment, and eventually a produce department and furniture store, an old building beside the furnishing establishment of Messrs J. R. Fow, Limited, is the first structure that has been demolished to make room for road extensions subsequent to the cutting away of Garden Place Hill. The building was erected in Collingvvood Street in 1910. Demolition lias been rapid. The breakers began work yesterday morning ami finished the task to-day. Alexandra Street will be extended through to Ward Street over the land upon which the old building formerly stood.
