AUCKLAND CONFERENCE CO-OPERATION IN DEFENCE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Friday The Dominion conference of the New Zealand Carriers and Customs Agents’ Federation concluded to-dav. OHicers were elected as follows”:President, Mr J. H. Kirkwood (Dunedin; ; vice-presidents, Messrs I. J. Dlvkh (Wellington, ,M. nirns.-n Auckland-, T. E. Wiltshire • Christchurch, : council, Messrs J. A. Henderson, J. C. Mowat (Dunedin), A. Hazelton, V. 11. Musgrove (Christchurch;, J. H. Moon, E. J. Price (Auckland), B. Ginger, E W. Hargreaves (Wellington), L. Pe.'arson (Masterton), C. E. Moran (Lower I-lutt), J. McDonald (Gisborne), G. G Langridge (Palmerston North), J. B. Wood (Timara), F. J. Jones (Invercargill), F. Hooker (New' Plymouth), W. Thornber (Blenheim); auditor. Mr E. C. Jones (Wellington). The conference decided to assure the Prime Minister of whole-hearted support in connection with defence and should the necessity arise pledged its willingness to co-operate to the full extent in transport details connected with defence. It was decided to draw attention to anomalies in connection with heavy' frame fees and to ask the Government for an investigation with a view to readjustment of the tax. The next conference was fixed to be held in Wellington.
