PRE WEDDING PARTIES

KITCHEN EVENING FOE MISS D. PETERSEN An enjoyable function was held in the Okoroire Hall on Thursday evening, the occasion being a kitchen evening held in honour of Miss Doreen Petersen, whose marriage takes place to-day. There was a large and representative gathering of local friends and residents. The pvrning took the form of a dance. Music was played by Mr A. r;nibb and Mr Alan Robinson, of Matamata. extras being given by Mrs J. McLaren and Messrs N. Gubb and F. .Tnpling. Tbc hall had been charmingly arramre-d with mauve, pink and green coloured streamers. In asking Miss Petersen to accept Ihe many gift parcels, Mr Harwood, on behalf of those present, wished her the best of lurk for the future. He mentioned that the guest-of-honour had boen postmistress in the Okoroire Post Office for several years and that she had also taken a keen interest in the activities of the district. Mr Charles Bush and his fiancee. Miss Doreen Petersen, had been keen members of the Okoroire Hall Tennis Club. On behalf of the latter, Miss Noel Rreward presented them with a handsome crystal violet bowl. Mr Bush suitably responded. A delicious supper was later served and musical honours concluded a very enjoyable function. Miss Doreen Petersen wore a frock of white crepe taffeta. Mrs K. Petersen was wearing black georgette. Carruth, tangerine paisley frock. AFTERNOON AT OKOROIRE Miss Doreen Petersen was the guest-of-honour at a further pre-wed-ding party recently. The function was held in the Okoroire Hall, where charming bowls of dahlias and trailing greenery had been arranged. During the afternoon much-appreci-aled items were given by the following;—Pianoforte solos, Mrs J. McLaren; pianoforte due*. Miss June McLaren and Mrs McLaren; songs, Mrs L. Butler: vocal solo. Miss Jean Carruth ; vocal duet. Miss McLaren and Miss Carruth. Later community singins: was enjoyed, music for this being played by Mrs .T. McLaren. A musical competition was won by Mrs C. Tyrrell. During the afternoon. Mrs E. Gubb made the. presentation of a handsome silver tea service, on behalf of friends in the Okoroire district. Miss Petersen thanked those present for the useful gift. The guests were received by Mrs E. Gubb wearing a frock of black romaine. The guest-of-honour’s frock of chiffon was patterned with blue flowers. Among those present were:—Mesdames K. Petersen, E.
