LOSSES BY FIRE

BOARD’S ANNUAL FIGURES MORRINSVILLE’S GOOD RECORD (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Thursday Morrinsville Borough’s good record for low fire loss was well maintained during the past year, according to the report of Superintendent G. L. Lingard, presented at the annual meeting of the Morrinsville Fire Board yesterday. The brigade received nine calls during the year, mostly to chimney and rubbish fires. The only two fires at which there had been any damage was an early morning fire which resulted in a small garage insured for £SO being gutted, and a fire in a car-painting shop, the damaged fittings of which were not insured. Mr W. T. Osborne, who has been chairman of the board since its inception in 1935, was re-elected chairman. Estimates for the year were approved providing for an expenditure of £516. This is a reduction of £ll6 on the previous year, due to some of last year's expenses being non-recur-ring. The retainers of the brigade were increased slightly to the followiner amounts: Superintendent, £ls: deputy-superintendent. £10; foreman and ni'dorman. £7 each: firemen £5. The resignation of Fireman W. H. Timmins, who has left the district, was accepted with regret. Mr Timmins had missed only one parade during the past two years.
