SUCCESSFUL YEAR
HAMILTON CHESS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD A successful year’s operations wore reviewed at the annual meeting of tho Hamilton i.;hos> Club last evening when Hip pn-idrnt, Mr S. L. Paterson, preshi <1 over a good attendance. in his report the secretary, Mr J. Fowke. staled that !he membership bad increased and the attendances wore good. The competitions had been well supported, particularly the games for the Dolly Warden Trophy, presented t 0 the club by .Mr F. Jones. The balance sheet disclosed a satisfactory position. In moving the adoption of the report .Mr Paterson congratulated the club on its sound position and paid a tribute to the officials who had worked so hard to make the year a success. The speaker stated that the Y.M.C.A. boys learning the game were making steady progress and the coaching would be continued this year. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr S. L. Paterson; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Boyes and K. Liddell; secretary, Mr J. Fowke; auditor, Mr F. Gundry; committee, Messrs J. H. Boyd, R. Mears, T. J. Shaw, J. Fowke and A. R. Staines; director of play, Mr R. E. Fenton. It was decided to open the season on April 27 and to hold the weekly meetings on Thursday evenings.
