SPACE BOOKED UP

WAIKATO WINTER SHOW i HEAVY DEMAND MET TAR-SEALING OF FLOORS "The demand for space by exhibitors at fhis year's show has been particularly heavy and already every available inch has been booked up,” said the secretary of the Waikato Winter Show Association, Mr W. H. Paul, to-day when referring to the 1939 show‘which will be held from May 30 to June 6. In the past the show has earned a fine reputation for catering for all sections of the community and the preparations already in hand indicate that this record will be greatly enhanced as the result of the 1930 exhibition. Dairy entries show an increase on last year’s figures and the * keen Interest shown by the commercial exhibitors gives promise of one of the finest displays ever seen in the Dominion. In preparation for this year’s fixture the association has decided to tar-seal all the earthern floors in the buildings, a move which will make the halls more up-to-date. In the past the dust nuisance In some of the halls has been a problem for the association, but the seaiig operations will improve matters considerably. The health and fitness exhibit, which will be one of the main features, will be housed in a marquee measuring 80ft. by 40ft. and will be connected to the main building. Several stands are being erected to hold the thousands of exhibits from many parts of the world, and it is expected the display will occupy a total area of about 400 square feet. To ensure the comfort of people visiting the marquee, the Central Waikato Electric Power Board will have an exhibit of heaters in the middle of the display and the sundial constructed a couple of years ago by Hamilton model engineers will also be on show. * WORLD’S GREATEST REOORD DAIRY ANTRIM WINTER SHOW EXHIBITS With another increase in the dairy entries for the Waikato Winter Show, which will be held from May 30 to June 6 this year, the association has once again established its claim to the reputation of being the greatest dairy show in the world and has also justified the contention that the Waikato district stands second to none in dairying activities. Last year the total entries for the butter and cheese classes numbered 1180 and this year's final figures show a rise of three. In the butter section the exhibits this year number 768, compared with 759 last year, while the cheese entries total 415, compared with 421 in 1938. As in past years, the exhibits will again be attractively laid out and this section is sure to be one of the most interesting features of the show.
