Chaplin Ready

Taking shape much faster than any previous Chaplin picture, “The Dictators’’ (the “s” at the end is now official) is ready to be started at the Charles Chaplin studio. The story and dialogue have been completed, some elaborate sett, gs have been built, and casting, though Chaplin is still the only person announced for the film, is nearly completed. Production began, it is stated, on March 15, and the film will be ready for a release early in the autumn. In earlier announcements, it was said that the part of the real dictator in some of the spectacular scenes which show him making public speeches would actually be played by a Hollywood actor. Now, it has been decided actually to use some newsreel clippings of Herr Hitler making some of his more important announcements. other players will be photographed at the same time by back projection.
