YOUNG MEN FOR SENTENCE ONE ESCAPES FROM PRISON 'Bv Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday Arrested at Eastbourne on March 21, Robert Clarence Clarke, alias Robert Osward Jewett (21), motor assembler, and Robert Toombs 19), tile stripper, appeared in the Magistrate's Court to-day on charges, including breaking and entering and theft and two charges of car conversion. The charges were admitted and they were committed for sentence. Clarke, who also admitted escaping from the Rangipo prison camp on January i. pleaded guilty to 10 charges of theft and not guilty to a charge of unlawfully converting a car in Wellington. On this charge he was committed for trial, and on the theft charges was convicted and discharged Clarke and Toombs were also charged jointly with a number of thefts, committed in Frankton, Hamilton, New Plymouth and Wellington. They pleaded guilty ,md were convicted and discharged.
