SEXTUPLETS?

STORY FROM SCOTLAND BIRTH ON FEBRUARY 6 ALL DOING WELL The birth of sextuplets to a woman of Clydebank. Scotland, on February 6 is announced in the Clydebank Press of March 10. which arrived in Hamilton this morning. The paper was sent out to a resident of Hamilton and prominently featured in the news pages is the story of the phenomenal case. There are meagre details, and the names of the parents are not published, but the report states that on February 6 a Clydebank woman gave birtli to" six perfectly-formed infants, five males and one female. The weights of the infants ranged from U to CJJjs. and although there was some doubt as to their chances of surviving early they are now reported to be progressing most satisfactorily. The mother is also doing well. The great interest created by the birth of the Dionne quintuplets has led many people to regard five as the record number of infants at a birth, but a few years ago it was reported from Central America that a native woman had given birtli to sextuplets. T 1 i->e infants, however, did not survive. The Clydebank sextuplets are the first •» survive a month, and their medical attendants are confident that they will attain maturity. So far as Britain is concerned this is the first time more than four lias been exceeded. Two sets of quadruplets are at present alive and thriving in England. Quadruplets were born in Dunedin some years ago. The Railways Department advertises in this issue particulars of train arrangements on Anzac Day, April 25.
