MYSTERIOUS BLAZE

DWELLING DESTROYED OWNER'S HEAVY LOSS (By Telegraph.—Pr*ss Association) GISBORNE. Thursday A spectacular fire at Haiti last night destroyed a 16-roomed house owned and occupied by Mr R. C. Fisken. The blaze was fanned by a strong wind and as the nearest water plug was 200 yards distant, some time elapsed before the brigade was able to play water on the flames, which also threatened an adjoining house. The origin of the outbreak is a mystery, as Mr and Mrs Fisken had been away for a week and only returned the previous day, no lire having been lit for more than a week. Nothing was saved from the house and Mr Fisken’s loss Includes valuable cups and trophies won by him as a trotting owner and driver. The house was insured for £2*oo in the North British Office.
