OPENING FIXTURES RAIN REQUIRED ON GROUNDS MEETING OF THE MANAGEMENT Subject to the confirmation of its next meeting, the management committee of the Hamilton Rugby Union decided last night that the junior gTade competitions will open on April 29 provided rain fell in the meantime to soften the ground. A recommendation will be forwarded to the central committee controlling the Stag competition to open the series on May 6. Training nights at the shed at Rugby Park were allocated as follows: Tuesday, Old Boys (three teams) and City (five teams) ; Wednesday. Frankton (five teams) and Marist' (two teams) ; Thursday, Technical Old Boys (live teams), Battery (one team) and Te Kowhai (one team). Rototuna, if an application is made, will train on Wednesday evening. The Raglan club made application for a renewal of the special dispensation to play senior B grade in the Hamilton competitions. It was decided to refer the application to the Waikato Rugby Union with a recommendation that it be granted. Sub-committees Elected The following sub-committees were elected: — Insurance committee, Messrs A. E. Gibbons, R. Johnston. J. Adams; grounds committee. Messrs T. W. Thompson and E. J. Messrs C. Speight. T. W. Thompson. J. Mills, F. Buckingham and R. C. Sayers: time-keeper, Mr F. Hawke; icferees appointment board, Mr E. Cxenham. The delegates of the committee to the annual meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union were elected as follows: Messrs A. E. Gibbons, A. St. G. Be teller. J. I>. Hislop. B. Johnston, R. Anderson. F.. nxenham. Messrs A. E. Gibbons. A. St. C. Belcher and J. D. Hislop were elected delegates to thp management committee of the Waikato Rugby Union. The registration of senior players will close on Monday. May 1.

ADVISORY BOARD DISCUSSION A suggestion that the junior grade of the Hamilton 'Rugby Union competitions be divided into two divisions this season was made at the meeting of the Junior Advisory Board on Monday evening. The suggested scheme provided for a play-.,1T between the leading teams of each division at the end of Hie competition. The matter was left open so that delegates might confer with their

clubs on the subject. Weiphinp-in this season will be conducted as follows:—.Junior, third grade and fourth prade. Wednesday. Thursday and Friday.
