RAGLAN RESIDENTS
DEPARTURE FROM DIBTRICT SERIES OF PRESENTATIONS A large crowd assembled at the Raglan howling green recently to bid fare-well to Mr and Mrs George Pooley, who are leaving the district for Whitianga, Mercury Bay. On behalf of the residents of Raglan and district, Mr R. H. A. Cushman said the guests of honour had identified themselves closely with public, sporting and social activities, and had by willing assistance merited the high regard in which they were held. In wishing Mr and Mrs Pooley health and prosperity, he presented the guests with a cheque. Mrs V. E. Pegler, on behalf of the Raglan-Karioi branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, referred to Mrs Pooley’s assistance to women’s organisations and presented her with a gift from the division. Speaking on behalf of the Raglan Bowling Club, of which Mr Pooley had been president for tiie past two years, Mr «G. H. Marcroft paid a warm tribute to the guest of honour. He presented Mr Pooley with a gold-mounted fountain pen suitably inscribed. as a token of the esteem in xxhich he and Mrs Pooley were held by the bowlers and residents throughout the town and district.
