NEW GROUNDS
SPORT IN HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD PROPOSALS Included in the report received at the meeting ot the .Hamilton Domain Board last evening from the subcommittee, comprising Mess’’* W. 11. Paul, F. A. Swarbrick, W. Fraser and Dr. G. W. Gower, appointed to confer with representatives of local authorities on the question of improvements to sports areas in the town, were proposals for a number of new grounds. The chairman, Mr Paul, presided over the meeting, and also present were Dr. H. Douglas, Dr. Gower,, and Messrs H. D. Caro. W. Fraser. F. W. Platts and G. S. Boy us (secretary).
The proposals included the establishment of eight extra grounds for winter sports and three extra for summer sports. At Willoughby Street it was suggested that one football or two hockey fields should be set out, and on the board's area in Rifle Range Road five football grounds or a similar nuinbep of hockey grounds could be constructed. One hockey ground was suggested for Steele Park, while at Galloway Park either a football ground or a hockey ground could be laid down.
One cricket ground at Steele Park and another at Willoughby Street were also • suggested, in addition to an athletic and cycling ground at Galloway Park.
