CROWN CASE UNFOLDED
TWO ACCUSED FACE SERIOUS CHARGES CRUESOME EVIDENCE PRESENTED (By Tel.—Times Special Reporter) AUCKLAND, Tuesday Exceptional interest was taken in the Piha mystery case when the magisterial hearing opened before Mr C. R. OrrWalker, S.M. in the City Police Court this morning- The two accused are Gordon Robert McKay, wool and skin dealer (43) and James Arthur Talbot (38), both of Australia. They were jointly charged with improperly interfering with a dead human bodv, that of Patrick Henry Shine, at Auckland on February 10, and with wilfully setting fire to the dwelling house of Florence Jessie Thomas, thereby committing arson, at Piha on February 12- On the evidence submitted at the hearing the magistrate will decide whether the accused will be committed for trial. About 40 witnesses are being heard and the case is expected to occupy two days.
