LOAN DIFFICULTIES
CITY COUNCIL CONCERNED PROPOSED WORKS DELAYED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN. Tuesday The City Council's difficulty in raising money at the Government'}* prescribed rate was emphasised last evening by Mr W. B. Taverner who said the ratepayers had sanctioned loans but until the Government either sanctioned a higher rate of interest or made the money directly available it was not possible to proceed with the proposed ■\\orks. He added: “in this city there are some {airly large of capital nul fully employed, especially in the hands of Irustees and societies which w. ill id come our way jf the rate of interest were only a little higher.”
