Model Aeroplane Competitions. Entry fee 1/-. First Prize 15/-; Second, 7/6; Third, 5/-. SCHEDULE FOR CLASSES OF MODEL AEROPLANES. Classes are open for entries from all persons. Seniors to be of the age of 18 years or over, and Juniors under 18 years of age at the date of the Opening of the Show. WORKMANSHIP DIVISION (Non-Flying.) Junior Division. Class I—Scale Model Aeroplane (land plane). Class 2—Scale Model Aeroplane (seaplane). Class 3—Scale Model Aeroplane (solid balsa type, must be l/60th, l/64th or l/72nd full size). Class 4—Model Aeroplane, own design. Open Division. (Open to Juniors and Seniors—one model not to be entered in two classes). Class s—Scale Model Aeroplane (landplane). Class 6—Scale Model Aeroplane (seaplane). Class 7—Scale Model Aeroplane (solid balsa type, must be l/60th l/64th or l/72nd full size). Class B—Best Model Aeroplane (contest flying type—indoor model). Class 9—Best Model Aeroplane (contest flying type—outdoor model). Class 10—Petrol-engined Model—any type. (Classes 8,9, &10 are judged on Workmanship and Design.) NOTE:—In classes 1,2, 5, and 6 the model must be to a scale of fin. to one foot, and plans to this scale must accompany exhibit. If the original plan has been scaled up or down it must accompany the exhibitor’s own drawing as a check. This also applies to the exhibits in Classes 3 and 7. The model must be made by competitor. Assembly from kitsets containing partly formed materials, or formed celluloid or aluminium parts are allowed, but the machine fuselage, wings, tail, and undercarriage must be entirely made and assembled by entrant. Models must have at LEAST half their area covered. Models must reach the Show Buildings addressed as follows: THE SUPERINTENDENT, Model Aeroplane Division, Waikato Winter Show Association, P.O. Box 91, HAMILTON. Not later than Monday, May 29th, 1939. The Judge’s decision shall be final. Boxes or crates containing models will be kept and the model* carefully repacked and returned. Mark the box on the outside with your name and address preceded by the words “To be returned to Competitors may have access to the models on the Show bench for the purpose of assembly, adjustment of wings, etc. up till the time of commencement of Judging. Marks will be awarded as follows: Neatness of Workmanship Amount of Detail Finish Correctness of Scale General Conception 15 points 20 15 35 15 M Total 100 State clearly the Division and Class in which the model is to be entered. FLYING COMPETITIONS OPEN TO ALL. To be held on JUNE sth, 1939. Commencing at 2 p.m. sharp. Class 11—Any type model Aeroplane. Hand launched. Class 12—Fuselage R.O.G. (rise off ground). Class 13—Autogyro. Hand launched or R.O.G. (no flight under ten seconds will be recorded). In Class 12 the models must rise without outside assistance. No pushing, catapulting or such device to be allowed. In this class the models must conform to the Wakefield (Fuselage) Conditions, conforming to the formula (Length (overall) of model) 2 10 Flying competition will be held under the Rules of the N.Z. Model Aeroplane Association, and any records made will be taken as official (if made by financial members of affiliated Clubs). Three flights in each class shall be allowed. Attempts of under 10 seconds shall be termed “no-flight,” three such no-flights shall constitute a flight. The competitor whose model attains the longest duration in each class shall be deemed the winner. Competitors shall be ready to come forward when names are called. Entries close Saturday.
