SOCIAL SECURITY

(To the Editor) Sir, —Social Security is an all absorbing topic, and many are the problems discussed. Here is one which so far I have not had solved: A man insured his life for a small amount (£150) to lift at 65. That policy matured during 1938. Will the holder, despite the fact that he is of pension age, and is reaping the fruits of his own thrift, have to pay 5 per cent to the Social Security fund on the full amount of his policy, plus accrued bonuses, for the benefit of those who have shown no thrift? —I am. etc., PERPLEXED. Hamilton, April 4.
