Jack Tar and Games were not after l me while covering a mile in 1.52 3-5. Jack Tar. in particular, show.ng a desire to increase the pace. Bronwen and Maxam completed strong work over a round by sprinting up the straight, both hitting out very freely. Valamlto was responsible for an excellent effort over a mile which he completed in 1.42 3-5, after running the first five furlongs in 1.3 2-5. Vaalso accompanied liim over the last five furlongs in 1.3 1-5 and actually finished in front. Thl*. however, did not detract from the merit or Valamtto's performance. Inver hit out In resolute style over «iz furlongs in 1.15 2-5. Brazilian and High Sea both finl'hed well at the end of seven Turlongs in 1.33, there being little between them at the finish. Esquire completed half-a mile In 50 2-ss. Buccaneer commenced several lengths in front of him and assisted him over the last two furlongs. A Fast Half-mile Our Jean was very Impressive over hflf-a-mile which she traversed in 48 3-ss. finishing full of running. She proml-e- to be hard to beat in the Champagne Stakes but A. Tinker will not ride her now a- lie is unable to get a clearance from the doctor after his accident at Pukekohe. Gay Movie showed dash while running half-a-mile in 49 3-5?. Glen Connell completed hair-a-inilc in 50s but had nothing In reserve at the finish. Pocket Venus ran six furlongs In I.JO, time which the could have Improved upon. Lady Fox, Vaalstar and Come: a rum were in line at the end of half-a-mlle in 51s, the last three Turlongs in 38 2-s§. Lady Fox, who had the outside running, was very impressive while Cometarium also worked well.

Iloyevrus traversed six furlongs In 1.15 2-5. He did not finish well up the straight owing to the fact that he went very last early, running the first three in 36 3-ss. Mia Acrea (Mclllroy) was very Impressive wlhlc schooling over a rnlle and aquarter, Jumping Tour hurdle*. He appears to be at the top of his -form.

Round Up was restricted to pace work on the plough while Orello was given pace work on the grass. |
