YOUNG COUPLE IN A BOAT SEARCH WITHOUT SUCCESS (Special to Times) THAMES. Monday Concern is felt for the safety of Basil Rabe (17) and HazeJ Fisher (16) who early this afternoon put off in a flatbottomed boat from the Waiomo shore, were carried out to sea, and have not since been seen. Twice the polioe have searched the locality without success. A fairly heavy sea was running all the afternoon, visibility was.at times restricted to 100 yards," and a-gusty south-easterly wind blew. The youth is the only son of Mr and Mrs Karl Rabe, of Thames, and the girl is a daughter of Mr and Mrs William Fisher, of Maramarua. ORDEAL IN BURF YACHT SEVERELY BUFFETTED (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday The yacht Daisy, a 36ft. B class keeler, went aground on the mainland and was dismasted about eight miles from Warkworth early yesterday morning and the crew could not be rescued, for several hours owing to a heavy surf. The yacht was in charge of her owner, Mr J. Ellison, of Wellington, and was caught in a storm between Kawau and the mainland. When rescued, the crew was almost exhausted and stiff with cold, their clothing being saturated for many hours. MANY MAROONED AUCKLAND HOLIDAYMAKERS VESSELS FORCED TO SHELTER (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday Auckland shops and offices were depleted by several hundred people this morning who were marooned on islands in the Hauraki Gulf all night owing to the storm, which necessitated yachts and launches sheltering. Excursion steamers were also held up at Kawau and Waiheke and hundreds were unable to return to the city. BATHERB IN TROUBLE KAREKARE BEACH RESCUE HAMILTON GIRL INVOLVED (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday Four bathers were in trouble at Karekare beach on the West Coast on Sunday when a strong undertow carried them out about a-quarter of a mile from the shore. Two young men Messrs J. Churton and G. Reid, of Auckland, were quickly brought ashore by members of life-saving clubs, but it" was 20 minutes before two girls, Misses T. Molesworth, of Hamilton, and. 0.. Morrow, of Auckland, were rescued. Miss Molesworth was unconscious when brought ashore but responded quickly to treatment.
