HERR HITLER SPEAKS

NAZI ACHIEVEMENTS “SAVIOURS OF EUROPE” A TRIO OF POWERS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Jan. 31, 1 p.m.) BERLIN, Jan. 30 Herr Hltle*, Leader and Chancellor of Germany delivered his anxiously ant clpated speech In the Reichstag thus morning in celebration of the sixth anniversary of the inauguration of the Nazi regime. The Ambaasadors of Italy and Japan were present. Herr Hitler, who spoke in a low voice, began by recalling that 13,000,000 Nazi voters, men and women, supported him six years ago. The remaining 20,000,000 were scattered among the 15 parties and made common cause with the Jews. Entire Western civilisation would have been precipitated into an unimaginable

crisis had the Reich sunk into Bolshevist chaos. The salvation of Europe at one end began with Signor Mussolini and the Nazis pushed forward at the other end. “Now we witness in another land the same draraa of the courageous overthrow of the Jewish international attempt to annihilate European culture.” The Colonial Issue Referring to the late Mr Woodrow Wilson’s doctrine of self-determination in fourteen points, Herr Hitler accused the Allies of adopting the principles wherever exploitable. Thus Germany is refused the return of her colonies under the pretext that it is impossible, and the Allies will never hand the inhabitants to Germany against their will. No one in 1918 troubled himself about this. Herr Hitler proceeded to describe his struggle for the right of selfdetermination, resulting in the unification postmark with the Reich. He added. Our confidence in the new German army’s speed and efficiency to strike was not disappointed but even excelled, it is a gross distortion of facts, if the rest of the world draws the conclusion from these events, that Germany has threatened other nations through blackmail. We have not threatened anyone; we have only defended ourselves against attempt of a third party to interfere. “I need not say we will not tolerate In future any attempt by the Western Powers to Interfere In affairs concerning us solely, for the purpose of preventing reasonable solutions.” Referring to the Munich agreement, he alluded to the “initiative of our friend, Signor Mussolini, and the readiness of Mr Chamberlain and M. Daladier, which also must be highly esteemed.” “A Divine Mission” The Fuhrer referred to his unification of Germany as a divine mission. He complained that while primitive Negro tribes were being protected under the name “Self-determination,” decent cultured German people had been deprived of the rights of man, which in 1918 were formally promised them. There were certain world savers, governesses, who behaved as though the world were waiting only to rescue the German people from their present plight. “Speeches in newspapers abroad predict our death from financial trouble, from strain of credit crisis. Others predict a crisis in production and consumption. These things only prove the sincere desire of the Democratic nations to smash Nazi Germany.” ll§ added: “It Is true we are engaged In a tremendous struggle. With our whole strength we shall win, indeed we have won already (“cheers”). “ Our economic troubles are due to over population. We have been exploited and plundered for 15 years; yet without aid from colonies, or with help from abroad, we have saved ourselves. “ Which of these westerners, European governesses, could have achieved that. ‘‘Should Occupy the Moon” “We do not desire to export our system; It is our patent and we certainly have no intention of attacking anyone or to impose our regime on China, South America, Holland or Australia. But that is what Western nations predict. Perhaps they think we next should occupy the moon.” In a later passage, Herr Hiller claimed that Germany had t!.r* same right as any other nation to open up the resources of the world, and declared that the theft of her colonies was morally unjust and political madness. Either the world’s riches must be distributed according to the power of violence or by justice, then peace will prevail; but it were madness to imagine that a few nations can occupy permanently all the resources of the world. He declared: “ Such theories may satisfy capitalist democracies, but not us.” It were folly to imagine that Italy and Germany could be excluded from

the wealth of the world; It was stupid to pretend that Germany could not manage her colonies. He described the argument that the colonies would be advantageous to Germany strategically as hypocritical. Germany did not want colonies in order to raise armies in them; she did not need colonies for strategic purposes. No nation could continue to exist without bases for food supply and raw materials. “We want colonies for economic relief. If others complain that our economlo methods damage them, they must blame themselves for forcing us to adopt such methods. “The denial of colonies forces us to seek national self-sufficiency, and, as far as that cannot be realised, to stimulate our exports we must export goods for food or die; but the German people will live. We can promise a desperate struggle if faced with counter measures.’’ Herr Hitler concluded: “Nazi Germany knows what her fate would be If the International Powers succeeded In defeating ltaly i but Italy and Germany are strong enough to secure peace or resist any coalition. We are determined to defend our common Interests together. “The same considerations explain our attitude toward Japan. Her defeat would only bring a further attack against Italy. “The German colonies question alone would not justify war. England and France in the autumn showed that they placed peace above the maintenance of unjust conditions.” The Fuehrer sat down at 9.23 p.m. SELF-SUFFICIENCY FOUR-YEAR FLANRENEWED IN GERMANY (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Jan. 31, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 30 Dr. Frick. Minister of the Interior, speaking before Herr Hitler, announced that a four-year plan of self-sufficiency would be renewed for a further four years. EVE OF SPEECH MARSHAL GOERING'S EULOGY MILESTONE IN HISTORY (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Jan. 30 The blare of Nazi brass bands and the shrilling of fifes playing patriotic airs in the betlagged streets awakened citizens at 0 a.m. to-day, the sixth anniversary of Nazi accession to power, which in the official programme, in accordance with the custom of naming each anniversary as a milestone in Nazi history, is designated “The Day of the Great Awakening,” in commemoration of the absorption of Austria and Sudetenlarfd. Field-Marshal Goering, in a statement, said: “ The six years since Herr Hitler took the leadership in his strong hands weigh mere heavily in German history than centuries. Germany in 1933 was enchained by the Versailles Treaty and was not even sovereign in her own territory. The Greater German Reich now arises in the world most firmly knit into a block of steel. Her eighty million are now free and her armed* forces watch over their independence. Dr Goebbels, in a broadcast to the children of Germany, said: “We can scarcely think to-day what would have happened to Germany without the Feuiirer and the Nazis, who, some say. accomplished miracles: but those who have achieved the rejuvenation of Germany know it was the revolt of youth against parliamentarianism and party strife which secured the result.”

WARNED OFF NO MEDDLING SOLID WITH ITALY (United Preas Aaan.—Eleo. Tel. Copyright) (Received Jan. 31, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 30 The Fuehrer announced his determination to reorganise the Relchbank as a German Institution and Increase military efficiency. He said: “Do not forget It seems to be the privilege of a democracy to nurse hatred of the Totalitarian States. We will not permit British or American critics to meddle In our affairs; we shall remain a sovereign State t guaranteed by our arms and friends. Germany nurses no hatred of England or America, but wants to live In peace with them, but they are continually Incited by Jewish war-mongers.

“There are people responsible for the previous war again trying to provoke war. If we defend ourselves against these apostles of war, Mr Churchill, Mr Duff Cooper, Mr Ickes and others, we are accused of attacking them. “Tf international financial Jewry starts another war it will not end in the destruction of Germany, but the annihilation of the Jewish race throughout Europe. “If Italy is involved in war it is absolutely certain that Germany will he on her side. Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany will secure European civilisation.

“Germany has no territorial claims against England and France except colonial ‘claims. Only war-mongers think there will be a war; I think there will be a long period of peace. We are helping Nationalist Spain to avert the possibility of a Bolshevist Spain.
