IMPERSONATED POLICE
THIEVES’ RUSE "ARRESTED” A MAN (From a Correspondent) SYDNEY, January 17 Impersonating detectives, two men to-day “arrested” a shopkeeper, of Darlinghurst Road. Darlinghurst, took him in a car to Centennial Park, and robbed him of £3O. A large squad of police from No. 3 Station. under Detective-Sergeant Delaney, are %earching for the culprits. The robbery occurred shortly after 2 p.m., when the bogus detectives are said to have walked into the shop and told the man that he was under arrest for starting price' betting. They added that he would have to accompany lnem. and the three then entered a car which was waiting, with the engine running, outside the shop. Driver Aooomplloe The car driver proved to be Afl ae-
complice of the two men who had entered the shop. After he had been driven to a lonely part of Centennial Park, the shopkeeper was ordered to leave the car. The thieves took £so from him and drove off.
