BUDGE AS PROFESSIONAL A MATCH WITH VINES (United Press Assn.— Elec. Tel. Copyright) NEW YORK, Dec. 29 It Is anticipated that 17,500 spectators will pay 48,000 dollars to see Donald Budge's professional tennis debut against H. Ellsworth Vines at Madison Square Garden on January 3. Vines plans to pound Budge’s forehand. He explained: “ There is nothing weak about Budge except his chin, but his forehand is not as strong as his backhand. Most of his amateur opponents have made the mistake of playing to the latter.” If Budge lifts the professional title during the tour of 70 American and Canadian cities Vines will retire and concentrate on goll.
