ACTIVITY IN ELECTRIFICATION UNDERGROUND TUBE EXTENSION (United Press Assn.—dec. TeL Copyrlrbt) LONDON, Dee. 29 During the year there has been r*»cord activity in regard to the electrification of British railways. In the home counties the underground tube extensions linked with the main line developments represented u»i important feature of this work. The Southern Railway opened % new section which completed the electrification of the line to Portsmouth, and that between Porstmoutb and Brighton. The Southern Railway, which now has the largest electrified suburban system in th- world, will to-morrow complete another important slags in its development with the formal opening of new electrified sections of the line ’inking uding Ascot, Aldershot and Guildford. These sections will complete the electrification of the outer suburban area of the Southern Railway, ana the • 3 route miles involved bring the inai electrified track, ul the railway to bbb route miles.
