PETER PAN’S LETTER

JJEAR GIRLS AND BOYS, And now the Old Year Is drawing swiftly to its close and with it goes the memories of all those jolly hours that we have spent, but in its place comes another Year, one that is filled with shining hopes and happy times, with golden opportunities and jolly adventures tucked away amidst its calendar pages and Peter hopes that each and every member will make this year the “bestest” ever and that they will all have the happiest and jolliest times aboard the Holiday Ship. The Twins have prepared lots of good resolutions, but Peter knows they will be forgotten in a very, very short time and he is afraid that those rascals will be into more mischief before the first day is completed. The Wendy Person and Uncle Andy have resolved that they will NEVER scold Peter again and the Sunshine Girl says that her list Is so long that it will take hours to read it through, but she is going to keep Peter’s pencils sharpened and all his letters in place. Peter hopes that you all had a very jolly Christmas; the Twins hung up their pillow-cases and Santa filled them to the brim with such a lovely assortment of goodies, that Peter was very much afraid that those rascals would be very ill before the day was over. Then the Sunshine Girl and the Wendy Person decided to decorate the rooms and Peter had such a busy time holding gaily coloured streamers and tiny Christmas trees while the Circle People tacked them Into place. A simply scrumptious Christmas dinner followed and Peter Is afraid he over-ate himself dreadfully, while the Twins had to run around the house before they could taste their Christmas pudding. As Peter writes this letter to you Any-one and No-one are singing the happiest little melodies that Peter has ever heard, so he thinks that they must be preparing for New Year too, while the warm sunshine is pouring through the window and making all the office seem so bright and gay. And such gay gardens there are everywhere, aren’t there. In front of Peter is a lovely bowl of golden nasturtiums and Iceland poppies and the other day Peter saw a long avenue of pink fairy bells dancing in the breeze. Then there are rosy-pink hollyhocks blooming in profusion while the red-hot pokers seem to be bigger and brighter than ever. But Peter hears the Printer Man on the stairs, and Peter heard him tell the Wendy Person that his New Year resolution was to be patient and not hurry Peter when his letter was a little bit late so he expects he had better hurry, in case the Printer Man should forget. So lots and lots of love little members, with a very happy New Year for 1939 and the Jolliest times on the blue seas of adventures. From yours,
