SERIES OVER HOLIDAYS BOY CYCLIST KILLED (By Telegraph—Press Association) HASTINGS, Tuesday Graham Leslie Wooding (9) was killed this morning when a motor-ear hit his bicycle near Pakipaki, a few miles out of Hastings on the NapierWellington main highway. The car was driven by Mr J. S. Wright, a traveller from the United States. The hoy died in the Hastings Hospital three hours later. BULLET STRIKES WOMAN A severe injury was received by Mrs E. D. Tarrant, of New Plymouth, when she was struck by a .32 bullet at Awakino on Monday night. BOY’S EYE HURT Injuries to his left eye were suffered yesterday by Allan O’Hearn ,8), son of Mr John O'Hearn, farmer, of Komakorau, Taupiri, while tree-climb-ing, a twig running into the eye. ESCAPE ROM DROWNING A party of young men and women had a fortunate escape from drowning when the engine of their launch was put out of commission by a wave as it was crossiing the Whakatane Rive:’ bar. The launch was swept on to the rocks, but luckily it balanced on an even keel and finally drifted ashore under the cliffs. The launch was considerably damaged, but the occupants were none the worse for the mishap.
