MORRIXSVILLE MARKET DAIRY CATTLE FIRMER Average pennings were on offer at Hie weekly Morrinsvilie stock sale yesterday when a full bench of buyers operated. in sympathy with the firmer market for beef at the Frankton yards, beef was in keen request and all classes were quoted on a slightly firmer basis. There was also a brightening in the tone of the dairy cattle market and top quality cattle changed hands at advanced values. Farmers’ Auctioneering Company The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report on the sale as follows: A medium yarding of fat sheep sold under good competition at slightly advanced rates. A medium entry of ox beef comprising a draft of light and medium steers were offered on account of Kcreone Ltd. and sold from £9 15s to £l2 15s. In the cow and heifer section the same vendors sold two pens of P.A. and Hereford cows and heifers that averaged £ll. A prime Poll Angus runner offered on account of -Mr W. W. Dickie, Walton, sold at £7 10s. A pen ’of prime Jersey heifers from Mr R. G. Griffin, of Tauwhare, averaged £8 15s. Prime Jersey cows from the Est. J. J. Patterson, To Puninga, and Mr F. M. Savill, of Tali una road, sold to £lO 15s. All beef cattle yarded met with keen competition and realised rates well in advance of recent prices. Store and boner cows sold at schedule rates. Empty 2-year and yearling Jersey heifers also commanded keen competition and realised satisfactory figures. A full entry

of dairy cattle again came forward, the offering comprising chiefly dairy heifers close to profit. Although the market opened quietly prices improved as the sale progressed and best quality dairy heifers fully maintained recent values, being keenly competed for by a full bench of buyers. More backward heifers well grown and showing some quality also sold readily but small and out of condition cattle were not sought. Dairy heifers in milk showed an improvement in values while a small offering of dairy cows were readily absorbed.

A good yarding of fat and buttermilk pigs came forward with competition keen throughout and values fully up to recent quotations. A large entry of store and weaner pigs met with brisk bidding for all classes, a total clearance being effected at values slightly in advance of last week's sale.
