POWER CHARGES
LIGHTING IN HOMES SLIDING SCALE RECOMMENDED A recommendation to bring down a sliding scale for power charges with a view to encouraging better lighting in homes was considered at the meeting of the Central Waikato Electric Power Board, to-day. The proposal and the scale will take about a month to formulate. “ The lighting in the average home is far below the standard it should be,*’ said the Engineer-Manager, Mr J. R. Ellis. -At the present it would become too expensive for the householder to adopt better lighting but that could probably be overcome under a new scale.” Mr Ellis said that a great number of people were obliged to wear glasses and one of the main causes of the defect in eyesight was inadequate Itghftn*. Concentrated light on the subject was necessary.
