FRIESIANS IN REQUEST TOTARA PARK STUD BULLS AVERAGE 29 GNS. Bulls were in keen request at the eighth annual sale of the Totara Park Friesian stud, the property of the pirl Land Company, at the homestead, Grini. vesterday, when the 17 head sold averaged 29 gns. Two_ aged bulls were sold at 6 gns. and 5 gns. respectively, this lowering the average price considerably. There was a large and representative bench of buyers in attendance, and competition was steady throughout the sale.

The auctioneers in conjunction were Messrs Dalgety and Company and the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, with Messrs E. L. Salmond and S. R. Webb in the rostrum. A total of SO head were submitted, 60 of the entries comprising heifers. These were in good request, and a feature of their sale was the consistency of the values realised, prices generallv ranging from 12 to 28 gns. The ent'rv included some of the best bred slock in the Dominion, and the majority were backed liy outstanding production records.

Top Realisations The top price of the day, 66 gns., was paid by a Taranaki buyer, Mr J. L. purdie, "for the yearling bull, Totara Conquest Butterboy, an outstanding sort solidly backed for butterfat on both sides of his pedigree. Mr Purdie's purchase was by T° ta ™ United Conquest and from the high producing cow, Totara Netheriand Buttercup, who has 764.09 lb. of fat to her credit. For a 2-year-old bu . Totara Colantha Progressive, another bull with a wealth of butterfat in his pedigree, Mr A. N. Beydon, Bay of Islands, was the final bidder at 53 gns This promising 2-year-old was bv the great bull, Totara Veeman Starlight, and from the well-known producing and show cow, Lebrina Clothilde Alcartra. The Matarawa Land Company, oi Tokoroa, secured a bargain in the 2-year-old bull, Totara Marathon Maynard, at 39 gns., -while another 2-year-old in Totara Veeman Henlow was cheap buying for Mr W. A. K} le, of Palmerston North, at 36 gns. A guinea below the latter figure secured another attractive 2-year-old, Totara Superior Walvole, for Mr R. J. Sexton, of KaipakL
