Ross, lodged an application for per- | mission to open premises. This was in j January and after negotiations and in- ! quiries extending over live months, Mr Ross has been notified by the Bureau of Industry that authority will not be issued. It was contended that the population in the area did not warrant the establishment of a pharmacy, | and the granting of the application ; would result in economic waste. Mr Ross appealed to the Minister against i the decision, but the Hon. D. G. Sulli- | van upheld the action of the Depart- l ment. Fortunate Position.—The opinion ! that acclimatisation societies in New Zealand were in a very fortunate position compared with similar sporting ; bodies in Australia was expressed by the Hon. W. E.
