FIRM TONE
WOOL AT NAPIER SEASON'S FINAL BALE FLEECES INCREASE BY id (By Teiegrapn.—press Association) HASTINGS, Sunday With the exception of lambs ! wool, which was a little irregular, all classes sold very firmly at recent rates at the fourth and final wool sale of the season at Napier on Saturday. There was an excellent tone to the sale and fully 95 per cent, of the 23,000 bales offered sold under the hammer. Compared with the last Napier sale, fleece wool was up about a penny a pound. Right from the outset until the small lots were reached in the last catalogue bidding was keen, some lines meeting with spirited competition. The Continent was well in the market, both France and Germany buying well up to their usual quota, while Japan, although figuring less prominently, bought a share of the wool. Bradford was the principal buyer. The quality of the wool offered showed an improvement on that sold In February. The bulk of the offering consisted of crossbreds, with some occasional super lines, while there were odd lots of scoured wool. The following is the official range of prices:—
