MINERS RETURN
PUKEMIRO DISPUTE SETTLEMENT REACHED TERMS NOT DISCLOSED (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) HUNTLY, Monday The men returned to work at the Pukemiro mine this morning after agreeing to the terms of settlement arrived at between the local miners’ union committee and the management. Details of the settlement have not been disclosed. A strike was called at the Pukemiro mine on Friday as a protest aginst the action of a mine deputy in respect of one of the truckers. The Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, who was in the district, immediately went to Pukemiro and addressed the men and ft was later announced by the secretary of the local miners’ union that the union committee would recommend to the men at the mine head on Monday morning that they should accept the terms of settlement offered by the mine manager.
