ROUTINE MARKET

HEAVY CATTLE ENTRY FEW FAT BHEEP FORWARD PIGS IN KEEN REQUEST A routine market was experienced at the weekly Morrinsville stock sale yesterday when heavy entries of cattle and fat pigs and a light penning of fat sheep were forward. There was no material upset in quotations and a brisk trade was experienced In most sections. A small entry of prime cattle was in s?ood request, although the bidding was slow at times with values a little easier. The bulk of the entry, however, comprised boner cattle, which changed hands readily at prices on a par with rates current at other centres. Few fat sheep were forward and the small entry was readily absorbed by butchers at prices that were a false representation of market values. Fat pi«s were again forward in exceptionally large numbers, close on 1000 all told, and the market followed the rising trend apparent At Frankton last week, both baconers and heavy porkers improving on last week’s rates, with baconers sluing to 86s per head. Light porkers, however, were not so ready of sale. Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report on the sale as follows: A small yarding of fat sheep came forward with competition very firm, prices showing an improvement on f>revious sales. An exceptionally arge yarding of all classes of cattle included a goqd proportion of second quality beef. Boners, which were yarded in extra heavy numbers, showed no alteration, late advanced .rates being fully maintained. A Ipood entry of potter bulls also sold i*t late values. For a small entry of dairy cattle, including a truck of Jersey cows in milk, values were on a par with recent sales. There was a neavy yarding of fat pigs and a medium entry of stores and weaners. Competition for baconers and heavy porkers was keen, prices realised being fully on a par with Frankton rates. Light and unfinished porkers were slightly easier, whilst stores and weaners were dull of sale. A large entry of choppers was also penned, and here again prices remained firm at late rates.
