CLAIM FAILS
SUIT AGAINBT ENGINEER COMPANY AND CONTRACT (Special to Times) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday Judgment lor the defendant, Archibald Donald Paterson, of Christchurch, civil engineer, was given by Mr. Justice Northcroi’t in the Supreme Court to-day on a claim for £30(10 by Honing Road Services, Limited, of Edinburgh, and a counter-claim by j Paterson lor £Bl2. The claim was heard in Christ- | church last December, tiie hearing j lasting six days and judgment being reserved. The action by the Scottish company I was based on Ms allegations that Paterson, the principal shareholder of British Pavements Canterbury , Limited. who went to England in' 1934 to exploit his own method of road paving, committed a breach of contract "’itu Hie company by returning permanently to New Zealand before completing two years’ engagement with j the company. This, it was alleged, spoiled the company’s prospects. Paterson’s counter-claim was for money which be alleged was owed to him by the company.
