Mr E. J. Rlghton, of Wellington, Js visiting Hamilton. Mr Wyndham Hopkins, of Auckland, visited Hamilton yesterday. Senor Simon Qulros y Qulros, of Auckland, Consul for Panama, Is visiting Hamilton. Mr R. A. Champtaloup, travelling manager of the Automobile Association, Auckland, visited Hamilton to-day. Messrs A. Peckston, R. M. Black, J. Smith, V. J. Mulgan, A. Nairn (Auckland) and R. L. O’Toole (Christchurch) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr. W. B. Martyn, of Hamilton, left for Sydney by the Wanganella last night on an extended visit to Australia. Mr I. A. Cromie, borough engineer at Taumarunui, has been appointed borough engineer at Whangarei. There were 25 applications. After 40 years’ service in the' Post Office, where he has been principal of the stores division since 1927, Mr J. B. Jordan, of Wellington, is retiring on superannuation. Mr J. H. O’Donnell retired yesterday from the position of assistant Under-Secretary of Lands after 46 years in the Public Service. Mr R. G. MacMorran has been appointed to succeed him. Mr. €. N. Rabone, formerly of Ham-* ilton, was farewelled at Palmerston North by the executive of the Manawatu Bowling Centre, in view of his early departure for England. He was presented with a fountain pen. The appointment of Messrs G. A. Lewin (Dunedin), J. W. Heenan (Wellington) and C. L. Grange (Thames) as members of the Local Government Loans Board for one year is announced in last night's Gazette. Mr A. Cerutty, manager of the Auckland branch of Huddart-Parker, Limited, retired yesterday after 48 years with the company in Australia and New Zealand. Mr C. H. Taylor; of the' Auckland office, has been appointed acting-manager. The election of Messrs R. 11. Brown and M. W. W. Cummings as members of the Public Service Superannuation Board for three years to represent contributors belonging to the Post and Telegraph Department is announced in the Gazette. Captain A. W. McKellar, R.D., R.N.R. (ret.), who has been in charge of the New Zealand shipping Company’s motor liner Rangitane during the eight years she has been trading to New Zealand, has retired from the sea, and Captain H. L. Upton. D. 5.0., R.D., tR.N.R., formerly of the Durham, has succeeded him in command of the j ship.
