OBJECTING UNIONS
QA6 WORKERS’ AWARD QUESTION OF CLASSIFICATION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday. j Representatives of a number of other trade unions attended the hear- ' ing of the Dominion gas works’ employees’ dispute to-day,to lodge an objection to any attempt to include their members in the Dominion award sought by the Gas Workers’ Union. The situation was adjuested by Mr Justice O'Regan intimating that the purpose of the sitting was to hear certain evidence only and any representations could be heard on ‘Monday when the major hearing of the dispute would take place. It was pointed out to the Court that the parties to the dispute had arrived at an agreement on classification and some of the objecting unions now had no reason for objection. The classification was based mainly on the systems adopted for gasmaking in the Dominion and It was the first time such a classification had been made in New Zealand.
