Feb. 17 A message was received from New Guinea slating that a Sydney girl flier, .Miss Barbara Hitchins. was missing between Karema and Wau, and that several airmen, including Mr Ray Parer, were searching for her. Miss Hitchins flew from Sydney to New Guinea a few weeks ago. She took off from Karema, which is 200 miles north-west of Port Moresby, on Tuesday, and since then had not been reported. Amalgamated Wireless, Sydney, received a message this evening from New Guinea stating that Miss Hitchins had been found by an airman, Mr J. Todd, 60 miles south-west of Madang. Copyright MEXICO CITY, Feb. 16 The well-known French airman, Antoine Destexupery, and his co-pilot, Andre Prevot, crashed to-day at Guatemala and were seriously injured. They were on a flight from Montreal to Buenos Aires. The machine was wrecked. The fliers were on a mission for the French Air Ministry.
