VICTIMISATION ALLEGED CHAIN WORKERS AFFECTED (By Telegraph.—Press Association' 1 CHRISTCHURCH. Thurs day The freezing dispute at Borthwick's Belfast works continues, a deadlock being reached when the union delegates met the company representatives yesterday morning. The only thing the union could get was allegedly a definite end unmistakeable statement of (lie intention to victimise two union delegates. Mr H. G. Kilpatrick, the secretary of the union, said to-day that one of the two men was branch secretary, while the other was the men’s delegate from the chain workers. At the conclusion of the conference, the company posted a notice on the wall dismissing all the chain workers and stating that, labour would be re-engaged to-day. As a result of a unanimous resolution of the workers, the two men concerned were the first to offer themsehes for work. They were turned down by the foremen, who said that there was no work for them. Killing Operations Proceed The men on the chains unanimously decided that they would not. offer .1 hernselves for work till the two union officials were re-engaged. Mr M. J. Reardon, the Conciliation Commissioner, and Mr B. T. Bailey, ■officer in charge of the Labour Department. discussed the position with •representatives of the men and later with the company representatives. This morning both sides remained adamant.
