RED POLL HEIFERS
FURTHER IMPORTATIONS Messrs J. S. Pike and Son, of New Plymouth, have recently secured two outstanding Red Poll heifers, from the well-known “Ivanhoe” Stud in Tasmania, through the pedigree live stock division of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Limited. The cattle are at present undergoing quarantine in the Somes Island quarantine station, Wellington, and will he released about the middle of February. Both of the imported heifers are double A grading and before leaving Tasmania were mated to the imported bull Woodburn Merlin AA by Gresham Mohawk 1389 AA. "Ivanhoe Tulip” is by Woodburn Wisebny AA by Whiteawav Wiseman AA (Imp and tlie other heifer. "Melba” is out of Chadpara Melonade AA. a prize winner as a three-vear-old at the Melbourne Royal Show.* bred by Dr. Arnold Caddy, ol Victoria. Breeders throughout the Dominion realise the necessity of securing fresh blood and it Is expected that in the near future others will purchase high class animals from overseas.
