A New Zealander, Miss Ilettie Penham ’ Arnold, a hospital matron, died from injuries suffered when site fell from an underground train near St. James’ Park.

The accident delayed the services for 15 minutes.

Miss Arnold was matron of St. Helen's Hospital, Wellington, and was granted special leave last March for

one year in order to attend the Nurses’ Conference in London. She intended to return to New Zealand next March. She left in February on a year’s leave of absence for study abroad, visiting Holland. Denmark, Sweden and Finland to study midwifery work. Her report is expected from the High Commissioner's Ofliee in the near fut lire. Her relatives live near Ashburton.
